17.What is difference between AUS Key and ASIC Key?

AUSkey

AUSkey is a secure login that identifies you when you use participating government online services on behalf of a business and allows you to access and send business information to government online. It simplifies the way you can interact with government from changing your Australian business number (ABN) details to lodging your business activity statement (BAS). It is a single pass for login to an ever-growing list of business to government online services. Similar to the security tokens used for internet banking, it provides you with assurance that only the people you choose have access to your business information. It significantly reduces the number of user IDs and passwords you need to deal with government online on behalf of your business. Rather than having a separate pass for each government system, the one AUSkey will work for all.

Which government agencies accept AUSkey?

The following government agencies will accept the AUSkey for login to their business online services:

• Australian Business Register
• Australian Taxation Office
• Australian Securities and Investments Commission
• ACT Revenue Office
• QLD Office of State Revenue
• NSW Office of State Revenue
• Revenue SA
• TAS State Revenue Office
• Territory Revenue Office
• State Revenue Office VIC
• WA State Revenue

ASIC key

AISC Corporate Key is an 8-digit number uniquely associated with a company’s ACN. Your company needs only one corporate key. In many respects a corporate key is similar to the PIN for a bank account and is used to keep your company information secure. It is used in ASIC Connect that helps to establish identity and protects the business information by making sure only authorised person can access it.

The ASIC key is a unique number available to registration holders and is used to link a business to an ASIC Connect account. Once the business is linked, transactions can then be submitted in ASIC Connect. It is issued to the registration holder once a business name or SMSF auditor is registered. Business name holders also receive the ASIC key with their renewal notice.
